Canon[]
Before the events series, they used to be Worker Drones who worked at Elliot Manor for a human girl name Tessa and her family. They worked alongside J and Cyn. V also used to be much kinder and shy compared to her current violent, murderous personality.
PILOT[]
After meeting Uzi, N tells her about his Disassembly Drones teammates, he first mentions V. In a flashback, V is killing a Worker Drone as N watches behind her. He tries talking to V, but she notices his presence and gets startled, asking who he was before quickly flying away. The flashback then ends with N saying he thinks they have a lot of mutual respect for each other and mentions that he secretly has a crush on V, and tells Uzi not to tell her.
N manages to get into the Worker Drones' hidden bunker and says to Uzi before attacking her that he isn’t going to let her shoot V with her railgun. After N’s fight with Uzi, V compliments him for being able to get past through the doors of the bunker when she wasn’t able to.
Later, when N and Uzi team up against V and J, Uzi asks who N wants to fight. He answers J, but Uzi targets her instead, leaving N to fight V. N initially tries to make peace between him and V, and is cut off when V charges at him, swords in hand. The camera switches to Uzi and J fighting, and when it switches back, N is thrown against a pile of boxes with V pointing a rocket launcher at him. N charges up his own rocket launcher and shoots, but instead of a rocket little pink hearts shoot out. He proceeds to shout "AAH!! My mind's in a weird place- don't read into this!" before V finally shoots a rocket at him and it explodes. Later, N and V get into a sword fight in midair. N notices Uzi about to get murdered by J and apologizes profusely to V before licking her sword and kicking her down from above, sending her slamming into the ground and knocking her out. Once Uzi is done blowing up J's head, we see that N has tied up V with her own tail.
After the battle and talking to the WDF, N drags V by the head and launches up through the roof of the bunker, flying away.
Heartbeat[]
The episode starts with a flashback to the Manor, with N and V as Worker Drones. N is a butler carrying a plate of wine glasses but accidentally bumps into V, dropping N’s plate. They both apologize and try to clean up the mess at the same time, their hands brushing and creating an electric spark. They both blush, N about to say something before J kicks N to the ground, ending their little moment. J starts being rude to N as usual but is interrupted as Tessa walks in with Cyn.
In the end of the episode, N comes back to the landing pod acting depressed. V says she usually hates N’s personality, but seeing him all sad makes her dislike him even more. N doesn’t respond, making her soften a bit. She notices the chain keeping her from running away is visibly broken, but chooses to hide it and stay with N rather than leave.
The Promening[]
N and V are at the pod, N is hesitating over whether he should wear a suit from skeleton remains he got. V tells N about the plan to kill everyone at the prom dance by using Uzi to letting them in, but N refuses to help her. He then starts questioning about their pasts, V pushes him away, telling him to promise her to try not to pry into that stuff too much. She promises him that if he frees her, she’ll only kill what they need to survive. He tells her if she is hiding something, they can try to figure it out together, but V cuts him off by chopping his head off. She then flies off with a red prom dress to go crash the prom.
N regenerates his head and realizes what happened. He goes out to go after V. At prom, N sees V is getting attacked by Doll. Doll throws a ceiling fan at V. N jumps in, blocking the attack. Doll then throws 2 ceiling fans towards them, N and V get hit and are knocked out. As Uzi and Doll fight, we see that N and V were badly hit by the ceiling fans, with several limbs chopped off. One of V's arms is seen crawling towards her, N picks it up to which V quickly grabs it from him using her mouth.
After regenerating, V shoots Doll in the head. Uzi gets pissed and N points at V, saying she's hiding something and is being overdramatic about it. She punches him in the arm and says he sucks. Uzi shouts "You!", making N and V point at each other.
N and V alongside Uzi, enter Doll's room. As they look around, V says that Doll's parents didn't even taste that good when she killed them. N says to V that she kinda sucks, to which she responds by giggling saying she isn't doing ok.
Cabin Fever[]
N and V crash Uzi's class camping trip wearing camp uniforms. Their job is to supervise Uzi's classmates while Uzi explores the campsite for answers. N tries to interact with Uzi's classmates but they're all too scared to respond. V shoots one of them in the head, causing all the other campers to be friendly to N to get on V's good side. V mentions to the students that N is a pilot, causing some of the girls to simp. As Uzi is exploring an abandoned building, N and V go out canoeing on ice with the campers, and V playfully tries to knock over N's boat.
N and V later witnesses Uzi's Solver abilities. V is prepared to kill Uzi, but N confronts her. N gets mad and attacks her with a sword, saying he doesn't know what's wrong because "she won't tell him." He asks what V is so afraid of, to which she says she's not afraid. N responds saying that he and Uzi are, and that Uzi is a kid like them. N tells V to look after the campers and leaves.
Later in the forest, Uzi and V fight with Uzi winning in her Solver form and about to stab V in the head with her own tail. N interrupts and grabs Uzi, causing her to stab his hand with the tail instead. N launches Uzi into the atmosphere and takes the tail stinger out of his hand, flicking it back to V. N scolds V for antagonizing Uzi and V complains, saying he always takes her side.
Home[]
The episode takes place in N’s memory. V is standing on top of the basement door that N and Uzi need to go to. So N moves her away. When N retrieves the basement key from J, V fights him trying to get the key. J manages to distract V for N to run to the basement. As N and Uzi enter the basement, he asks Uzi if V is ok in the future (present time), which she responds with a disappointed yes.
N is locked sitting on a chair. Eldritch Cyn is struggling to pick up the tool she needed so she requests V to pick it up for her. V also struggles to pick it up, so N grabs V’s glasses which he had in his suit using his mouth and places it on her face. V successfully picks up the tool, and mentions a fact about Golden Retrievers which N continues. Eldritch Cyn pins V up to the ceiling, calling N and V’s moment gross. Uzi was able to get control over Eldritch Cyn and drops V. N helps her get up and they smile at eachother.
Back in the real world, N and V wake up, they look at each other and V blushes.
Dead End[]
Tessa and N are hiding in an abandoned office within Cabin Fever Labs. N is worried for V and Uzi’s safety, but Tessa assures him they’ll save them. V manages to escape with Uzi and tells Tessa and N to leave. V is angry at Tessa for not being sure that she could control the sentinels and then turns over to N to leave, but he doesn’t respond to her. Tessa tells N she hasn’t been been completely honest with V, which makes V ask N what Tessa told him, but no answer.
Later, as they get deeper in the bunker, they find the key bug they needed. Uzi was about to use her AbsoluteSolver powers to grab it but N and V stop her, looking at each other worryingly. When the Sentinels arrive, everyone tries their best to fight it off, V even uses her old glasses to sharpen her vision. As everyone gets in the elevator slowly going down, V is the only one who hasn’t entered. N tells her to get in, but she continues to fighting off the Sentinels. A Sentinel then breaks the elevator controls making it rise. V’s glasses are also broken by the Sentinels, surrounding her. N shouts at V that they needed her, but she denies. She sacrifices herself by cutting off the wire of the elevator with N, Uzi, and Tessa in it and salutes.
Absolute End[]
V breaks into the hallway where Uzi and N hide from Cyn. She begins to shout out in hopes of her words getting to N, and she scrambles over her words. She witnesses the holographic depiction of N facing her, and she begins to apologize wholeheartedly as tears begin to form in her eyes. The true N fails to refrain from speaking and shouts at V to stop. Because of this, Cyn pierces his body, ripping out his core and presenting the half corpse to V. V stares back in horror and shock, and Cyn reiterates V's words claiming that once their squad performs their jobs, the Solver would leave them alone.
V slowly descends into a state of panic, saying how she can still do so. Cyn informs V of her "bad job" before rapidly chasing her down. V flies out of the building with N's corpse by her side, and she watches in terror as Cyn holds N's core above her mouth, ready to devour it. Thankfully, Khan frees N's core from her grasp. Moments later, V, N, and Uzi engage in battle with Cyn and J. They both protect Uzi from J's oncoming onslaught and sends their betrayer into a pit. When N suggests that he and Uzi create a secret handshake, V eyes them with immense discomfort. The brawl continues for awhile, and finally, Uzi consumes Cyn's core, ending the Solver's agenda. V and N approach her, and N is elated that she is in good condition.
V slaps him to put him to a cease before warning him to stay back; she threatens Uzi with a gun due to noticing the latter's partially yellow eyes. However, she holds back once realizing that Uzi is present without Cyn's influence. During Uzi's class presentation, N cheers for her whereas V boos alongside Lizzy. N tosses a paper plane into V's hand; she opens it to reveal a manga depiction of her, N, and Uzi. He reveals to her a How to Draw Manga Guide with a smug expression. V softly grins at him and presses a hand against Lizzy's face when the latter expressed disgust.

Fanon[]
Envy has a decent amount of popularity within the fandom, though not a lot of people ship it compare to its more popular rival Nuzi. There are currently over 160+ fanworks on AO3. Fanartists like to draw them in their prom outfits from "The Promening”. Some also draw them in Worker Drones form as they’re mostly kind to each other. People who dislike the ship says that the pair is toxic, saying that N deserves better, which is the reason why the ship’s rival, Nuzi, has more popularity. The reasoning behind enemies of the pairing mainly point out how V constantly lies to N and keeps secrets from him; this made a large negative impact on their relationship, for it resulted in the strain of their mutual trust and led to V making drastic decisions (such as attempting to murder Uzi) without distributing the purpose to N. Additionally, they bring light to the antagonistic behavior V expresses to N and her deliberate refusal of acknowledging his emotions and thoughts.
However, shippers of this ship insist that V is starting to understand and feel sympathy for N, making the possibility that they could work out their relationship as the series continues. Examples include how V acknowledges her problematic traits and slowly develops to N's desires, such as maintaining his relationship with Uzi. To refute against the argument; V's secrecy reveal that her intention is to protect N and herself from the horrors of the AbsoluteSolver and the countless trauma from their past experiences with it, and her harmful actions is a result of it. Overall, fans of the pairing argue that the two have much more chemistry compared to Nuzi, and V requires emotional guidance from N in order for her character development to ensue, which has canonically occurred within the plot.
Individuals who have declared the Envy ship as toxic have had others refute against the bold claim by disclosing that the two genuinely care for each other as shown when N expresses extreme distress over V's sacrifice that is intended to protect him and the others; Another fact being that N continues to be supportive towards her despite their constant squabbles. They added that the ship cannot be compared to the canonical abusive relationship, Enjay, for these reasons, and continue to quarrel with others regarding V's "flaws" interfering with the ship's health status.
Plus, V was N’s first crush, so a relationship had the possibility of becoming canon if V hadn't been forcefully reprogrammed to become a socially distant psychopath.

Trivia[]
- In the beginning of every Murder Drones episode, when Glitch Production Intro plays, they’re the only two characters who appear. This only stopped occurring after V's self "sacrifice."
- The ship name “Envy” comes from combining their names. When pronounced, it sounds like the word “Envy”.
- Although is V shown to be rude to N, she still cares about him, and has sympathy towards him.
- N told Uzi in the Pilot that he refuses to allow her to blast V with her railgun. Coincidentally, V is the only member of the squad that has not been touched by it.
- In a merch release video hosted by Glitch Productions, Luke toys with the V and N plushies and pretends that they're kissing.
